Spearman Brewers Proch Promo Shot

7/23/16 - Yep folks, it's flat out hot down here on the Gulf Coast.  But don't let the heat fool you, we haven't slowed down.  We're still working up that new album, with a release date around September/October if all goes well.  We've also got a vinyl release in the works as well, but you're just going to have to wait a bit longer to get that one in your hands.  We've even managed to break out of the studio to get some live slapping in.  Weddings, reunions, benefits, bike nights, Prince tributes.  It's been a fun stretch for this front porch blues duo, and it's looking like there's more shows on the way.  So much for laying low during the dog days of summer.  One thing that has been laying low is the Straight 8 Half Hour Happy Hour.  There literally is zero AC in the Straight 8 Studio, so our show is in the off season.  Rest assured, season 2 is definitely coming down the pipe, that is once the thermometer comes down.  And that's all I've got.  Now excuse me while I get back to some strings.

6/25/16 - Holy crap, where did the time go?  Here it is Summer and I haven't yapped at yall in a while.  We're trying to stay cool here in the Panhandle soaking in that good AC and sipping on iced tea, but that's not the only heat we're dealing with.  Things are scorching in the studio, and we're keeping those flames fanned.  We're looking at getting some special guests in to add to the acoustic goodness that is already brewing.  And as expected we've got some shows popping up during our "break" for recording.  Top of that list has to be the July 10 Benefit for Steevo at the Stage Northside.  Folks, I'm going to be blunt here.  Cancer is a little bitch that needs to be pimp slapped pronto.  Steve is a local musician here in the Cola, and in times of need we look out for our own around these parts.  If you can and are willing, please come out and show some support and love for Steve.  We'll be slappin' and snappin' around 2pm, with a lot of great bands spread out during the day helping out.  And that's a wrap, got to go cool off in front of a fan for a while.

5/4/16 - Well welcome to May.  I know it's been a while since we've yapped at yall, time got away from us a bit.  Anyway, we're bound and determined to get back in the Slow Q Studio and get these new tunes laid down.  Right now we're shooting for a September/October release of our new full album, loosely titled "Rue Blue".  We've been dusting off the mandolins and ukuleles and washboards and banjos for this one, and I must say it's coming together great.  If you've caught us live lately you definitely have heard some of what we're recording, and there's a slew of tunes yet to see the light of day on there as well.  In the meantime swing on by the Music page and listen to our last release, "One Drink Minimum".  It's still a good one.  And be on the lookout for some potential pop-up live dates.  We're trying hard to focus on recording, but sometimes we've just got to get out there and snap dem strings live.  I'm out for now, got a hot date with a dobro and I ain't gonna be late.

4/2/16 - Wow, has it really been a month since we've yapped at yall?  Sorry about that, but we have been a bit busy in these neck of the woods.  On top of working on our next album we've been out and about playing some benefits for those that need a helping hand.  It's always good to give back, and we're always willing to give.  We've also been helping to get some tracks together for our good friend Bad Blood Benton.  Keep a look out for him, the kid's got something good going on.  What we''re really excited about this time of year is Record Store Day, and we plan on celebrating by cramming your earholes with our own style of Panhandle blues.  Yep, we'll be live in-store at the Music Box right here in Pensacola, Florida.  It's an early one (9am) so set your alarms and start your day right with some blues and morning brew.  We'll have some exclusive swag at the store, and you've got to be there if'n you're wanting.  Gang, there's a lot that's starting to take off around here, so strap in and head over to the Shows page to keep up with the shenanigans.

2/26/16 - Well, we're still kicking in these parts of the woods.  In case you haven't heard Pensacola, our spot on the map, was hit with some severe storms the past few weeks.  The Slow Q Studio came out unscathed but there were many right down the street from us who didn't come out so lucky.  With that in mind we're honored to participate in Bands for Home - a Benefit Concert for Pensacola Tornado Relief.  It's taking place at the Stage Northside in Pensacola on March 13.  The benefit starts at 1pm, and we'll be doing our part around 2pm.  There's a $5 cover which goes to the Salvation Army to help out with our recovery in this area.  There's 11 bands scheduled to play in a variety of genres.  Of course we'll be handling the stripped down double-fisted blues side of things.  So come on out for a great cause, and here's sincerely hoping that everything came out great for you if you were in the area as well.  I've been through more hurricanes than you can count on one hand, and we always bounce back here in Pensacola.
